Lunedi in Cisternino: updated

Our neighbor was harvesting plums and gave me some! We drove into Cisternino to shop at the mercato a fuori.

Zucchini fiori!

Caroline wanted another beach day, so after the morning market we drove to another beach on the Adriatic: Torre Canne Sud (south). This beach is cleaner with the same surf and layers of blues, but no hidden rocks. This time I was able to really ride the waves and swim over and along the swells.

I am not very good at dolce far niente, the sweetness of doing nothing. I am ready to leave the beach. Some of the sand is black, but there is a sign explaining it is from volcanic ash. Also, it’s just too windy! Troppo vento! More Adriatic shots:

Richard did some research on olive oils, and soon we go to Masseria Bracanti, which specializes in olive oil. I talked  to some Italian girls and discovered there’s a festa tonight for the Madonna with a procession this evening in Fasano.

We went to a really interesting tour of Masseria Brancati. Some of the trees were over 2000 years old! We went on a tour of the old olive grove and the ancient mills. Then we had a tasting. So interesting, but I’m tired and the Internet is slow. Sono stanca!

This evening we had a lovely dinner a fuori on our terrace.
