La Cena Romana con Barbara @ Eat With

We finally got into Rome and made it to our Hotel Viscious (named for punk rocker, Sid Viscious, who once stayed here). We found out about it from our new friend, Rachel. We reunited with Caroline. While we were having a snack near the Pantheon, Barbara of Eat With contacted Caroline and invited us to dinner tonight in Trastevere because she felt so bad for us missing the dinner last night.
It was a delightful evening. The food was so delicious, especially the spinach ricotta ravioli with zucchini sauce, the veal with prunes wrapped in proscuitto, and the gelato frutta di bosco (Jack’s favorite). Before and during the dinner, we met Barabara’s friends: Kathleen, who left her tiny dog, Lucy Lu, with us, Charlie, Brando, Carmelo, and at the end of the evening we met the movie star-turned-director, Gabriel Altobello. Must Google him tomorrow. I told him he was the Johnny Depp of Italian actors.
We had so much fun, and everyone humored me with my Italian, gently correcting and complimenting me. Before dinner we walked through all my favorite areas of Rome: Pantheon to Piazza Navona to Campo dei Fiori to Piazza Faranese and across the Tiber via the Ponte Sisto to Trastevere, the Left Bank of Roma. I HIGHLY recommend Eat With for anyone who wants an authentic fun dinner, delicious food, and delightful, friendly company. We hope to connect with Barabara and friends again on June 30 with the Schmidt-Martins.  We didn’t get home until 11 pm. I was exhausted, but now I’m wide awake.
I’ll close by saying: It was worth every moment of the arduous journey for just one notte bellisimo in Roma.

Hotel Viscious? Love it! And love the photos of Richard with Lucy Lu, and C with the Roman foot. I knew you wouldn’t waste a moment with something as minor as a little jet lag 😉 The photos of Trastevere are wonderful – you capture Rome at its best. What a great day! love, s

What a perfect first day in Rome! Lucy Lu is adorable–she and Richard look like they’ve really bonded! The food sounds divine, and all of your photos are gorgeous. Caroline looks so happy to be with her mom and dad!! And, I love the Hotel Viscious–too cute!
