Vintage Vepas!

Jack and Richard want to rent Vespas while I’m in class this week, so we found a place on the Internet and then drove way out on a white road to an Agriturismo where the guy collects old Vespas, the kind with a manual shift. The boys tried them out and are going to rent them Tuesday morning. I’m only posing. I’m excited about starting classes tomorrow. They start at 8:45 am and go until 1:10 pm, with breaks. I’m starting in the middle of an intermediate session, and there are only two other people in my class. I’m getting discouraged about learning Italian. I forget so many words. I’m good at ordering food and general pleasantries, but I can’t put sentences together very well. Oh, this last picture is Jack at lunch. We ate at Ai Quattro Venti (The Four Winds) after Mass in the Duomo. I understood a lot of it because we had a missal. We cook dinner at home in our apartment. The last two nights: caprese salad and pasta with pesto. And we bought a bottle of our favorite wine: Gattavecchi Vino Nobile. We all agree it’s the best we’ve tasted.

Vespas are adorable!! How much for the guys! Your class sounds really great–maybe you will get lots of individualized instruction since you have so few classmates.

  2. Bring home some of that wine!! 🙂

We will. It’s the best we’ve ever had. Today we tour a winery, Politzian. I read this woman’s memoir and contacted her, and she’s giving us a free tour. We’ll keep tasting. : ) But Vino Nobile is the wine they are most famous for. Love you!!
