Sunrise in Montepulciano and il mercato

Jack woke up around 5:30 am and took these photos from his windows. The later photos are from the market this morning. It was only Italians at the base of the walls, and the tomatoes and mozzarella di bufola and the cherries are amazing! The cat (this is for Caroline) lives in our apartment building. His nickname is Bernadatto or something like that, the Italian for Garfield. Also, the door I’m standing in front of is the door to Il Sasso, my language school, where I start classes on Monday.
An interesting observation: we, okay, I always ask where people are from. Our waiter at a little pizzeria in Tivoli commented on us being from Austin: Stevie Ray Vaughn! (although he pronounced each consonant of his last name as you would in Italian). In 2010, when R. and I stopped in Montereggio, we sat next to a Swedish couple, and when we said we were from Austin, they had the same response. I guess he is really popular in Europe.
