Cortona

Since I had a day off, we rode the train to Cortona, you know, the town made famous by Under the Tuscan Sun. It is a beautiful town on a hilltop. We had a wonderful lunch across from the clock tower at Ristorante La Loggetta, which was our best meal. We’re just so happy about the cool breeze. Nice little shops along the main street. Caroline bought two bracelets, one with replicas of the scrolls of the Etruscan tablets recently discovered in the area. Okay, we never take photos of our food, but I love the blue of the water bottle for aqua frizzante, and Caroline’s dish is beautiful. I had gnocchi with pumpkin sauce and balsamic vinaigrette. Tremendous views from Cortona of the surrounding countryside and Lago Trasimeno.
